A Special Gift

1940 fedora hat
Throughout our lives there are some gifts which are cherished more than others.  The reason is that they provide pleasant memories of the good ole days.  Several years ago I was given a stylish hat from the 1940s which belonged to someone who was like my own mother.  After the war, the 1940s were better days for most families emerging from a depression in our country.  It was kinder times, when Americans won a war which would have delivered the populace into misery and slavery, We appreciated the Constitution of the United States and worked together to make America better for our generation.  I wear the hat every winter.  It keeps me warm from the cold and renders peace to my soul.  The older that people get, the more they appreciate such things.  Now, here we are in the wake of World War III, a war predicted by some to last 26 years. It is very hitler-like, with noisy objections to our flag and Constitution.  The talk of doing away with the very amendments which provide freedom for all presents clues that this noisy generation believes in the suffrage and lies of communism.  While accomplishing nothing personally, they preach equality and demand payment for their inconveniences. But there are still joyful gifts to be given, treasures to be had.  If you are the family historian or genealogist, you have in your possession old photographs of relatives and times past.  The old Model-T, black and white pictures of forgotten relatives driving tractors, This is a past which your children did not know.

In the spirit of the holiday season, why not thumb through the old picture album, frame some of these treasures, and make a gift of them to the younger generation?

Or, perhaps a friend or relative will appreciate a subscription to our genealogy websites.  We will help you out by providing both you and your friend a one-year subscription to 8 genealogy websites for the same price.  It's a two-fer!  Simply subscribe yourself, then send me the name and email of your friend and I will also send them a password.   Email your request
